There was a recent security breach at the website of Paris-based online ticketing company See Tickets. There is a possibility that hackers accessed the sensitive information of the customers between June 2019 and January 2022.

They can access the following information about the people who purchased the tickets for the online events from them.

  • Names
  • Physical Address
  • Credit/Debit card number
  • Card expiry date
  • CVV number

They mentioned in the email that they are investigating the matter with different law firms. But, they have not yet found evidence of misuse of customer data.

Be aware of suspicious activities

Carding attack

Despite the fact that See Tickets did not disclose how the threat actor hacked its systems. But it appears to be a magecart attack. It is possible that hackers add malicious lines of code and access the payment information from the checkout page.

The company noticed this suspicious activity on its systems in April 2021 and hired a forensics firm to investigate. The company finally stopped this attack in January 2022.

Impact on customers

This incident affected a large number of people who purchased tickets during the time of the cyber attack.

The people whose data was breached are at risk of identity theft and fraud. They should keep an eye on their credit card statements and immediately report any suspicious activity to their bank.

Precautionary measures while purchasing tickets online

See Tickets website hack is a reminder of the importance of being vigilant when making online purchases. By taking some simple precautions, people can help protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud and identity theft.

  • People should only purchase tickets from trusted websites.
  • Make sure to check for HTTPS in the URL and a lock icon before entering their payment information on the website.
  • People must also use a credit card instead of a debit card for online purchases. This is because credit cards have better fraud protection.
